2) Wednesday   20 January 2016

Just completed one of the the books by Tony Hawks . He is   an Englishman – a comedian and a writer.

Titled : Round Ireland – with a fridge. Hilarious and a travellogue .

Easy to read and very relaxing.

This book sustained me at the Intern Residence (Ottawa Civic Center) prior to and after my Angiogram at the Heart   institute – over two days Monday 18 January and                                                                       Tuesday 19 January, 2016.

Hilarious and a travellogue .

Easy to read and very relaxing.

Completed reading a mystery book by Ian Rankin – his police detective is John Rebus ( Edinburgh, Scotland)

Book Title: Saints of the Shadow Bible.

NOTE:

Saints of the Shadow Bible, his 20th outing, sees Rebus reporting to his former protege, Siobhan Clarke, as the pair investigate a suspicious car crash. He’s also sparring with Malcolm Fox from the police complaints department  over an old murder. Thirty  years ago, Billy Saunders was tried for beating a man to death. The case collapsed because of the actions of  Rebus’s former colleagues ”“ Saunders was a snitch, and Fox believes that despite his guilt, Summerhall CID decided he was more use on the street than in prison.

Finally completed reading ( Fast reading – means did not read each and every word but only enough to get the substance of the narrative ) – a book by   Ian McEwan   titled   ” Atonement “.

It took a better part of a couple of months – to complete the book .

Note: The book has been the basis for   a movie called ” Atonement “.

J.A. Jance books with Ali Reynolds as investigator are very absorbing and one cannot easily put the book down till finished .

Note: Also on this day managed to get 5 more J.A. Jance books at a Book Sale in the Deep River Library   and thus will   be not necessary to borrow further books from the Libraray till these 5 books are completed.

Completed reading a book by Khalid Hosseni (a Freemont doctor) .   It gives some insight into life in   Afghanistan when King was removed by a coup and there after.       Also opens up some aweful treatments that Hasara people of Afghanistan go through everyday life ‘

Completed reading a book by   J. A.   Jance. This time Ali Reynolds is hired as a temporary Police Media Consultant. Also Sister Anselm   (Patient Advocate)   – which allows Ali   and Sister Amselm to work together and then establish a long relationship in bringing justice .

Completed reading   ” Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone ” by   J. K. Rowling   – a popular kids   book. Sachin (my grandson – 6 yrs old) ) is reading these books and he would want his nana (me) to read these too.     So the book was borrowed from him (nay – from his mom) .

This day i returned home from then Ottawa Heart Institute – having had a non-invasive Bypass Surgery – on Wednesday 01 June 2016.

During the week when I was in the recovery bed at the Hospital , I completed reading (fast reading – means not reading every word and para but those which are relevant) the following book.

Title: Seize the Moment –   by Dean Koontz. This book is baout scientific resarch gone   wrong   re: DNA and genetic manipulation.

Since I am home from the hospital – apart from reading mystery book by J.A. Jance – title ” Cruel Intent” featuring Ali Reynolds (which is half done in reading) , I completed last 2 Pokemon story books that Sachin have brought from Mackey for me – that makes almost all his Pokemeon story books ( I guess about 8) are now read by me. Sitara gave me two of her (children mystery) books yesterday (Friday 17 June 2016) . These I have now completed reading .

Completed reading ” The Land of Stories ” by Chris Colfer’ This is a Fairy Tale story.   Sitara (the Granddaughter) who likes reading books – is currently reading this series of Fairy tales and thus after she finished the first book in the series – her nana got the opportunity to delve into   this book . A very interesting and capitivating book.

The book title is : The Wishing Spell (part of The Land of Stories series)

Now Sitara has the second book in the series to read ( borrowed from the Deep River Library) – titled ”   The Enchantress Returns “. Her nana will get the chance to read this book after she completes reading it.

Completed reading   the second boof of ” The Land of Stories ” series by Chris Colfer’ This is a Fairy Tale story.   Sitara (the Granddaughter) who likes reading books – has already completed reading both the 1st and 2nd of this series of Fairy tales.   A very interesting and capitivating series of books.

The book title is : The Enchantress   Returns (part of The Land of Stories series).

b) A book by Agatha Christie . Title:   The ABC murders . I am sure I have read this book sometime before – a few years back. But Hercule Poirot always keep you on your toes.

Since last reading , I have completed reading the following books.

a) A book by Cathy Hopkins. Title : Mates, Dates and Great Escape.

b) A book by James Patterson . Title : Hope to Die.   Alex Cross is the detective – a mystery book

c) Another book by James Patterson. Title : The 6th Target. The Women’s Murder Club faces its most terrifying case. Lindsay Boxer is the detective.

(note: all three books were obtained from “books left out in the foyer ( by various patrons of the Lions Club in Petawawa)   for people to take for reading”. I brouhght these home one by one an then returned them on Monday 07 Novemeber ( when wife and I go for playing bridge at Lions club in the afternoon) .

Once I completed the above book     (   The Girl OnThe Train )   – I looked around on a shelf with Sunir’s coliection of books – from there I got the following book

Title : Rush Home Road   by a Canadian auther   – Lori   Lansens   and completed   fast reading of the book.

The reading spilled over the new year 2017 by about a day or so.
