Book Reading -Miscellaneous Books Read (2013)

I have followed to continue reading books in 2013 starting from the New year day .

As it is my wish to keep to lighter books and refrain from reading serious books on philosophy, history, political and social issues – though at times I will read these . Mostly I like mystery books.

The year started with re-reading the book by Ken Allen titled ” Deadly Endplay” – this is a mystery book about a murder but based on a member of a Duplicate Bridge Club in Pemberton ( a fictional town – in north Ontario)> The book has many valuable bridge plays with techniques – which can be useful to upgrade one’s bridge playing.

After that I completed reading of the following books .

1) A book titled ‘ Three Cups of tea ‘ by Greg Mortenson (an American) and co-authored by David Oliver Relin.   This is a book based on real life – mountaineering by Greg in high Himalayas – based in Pakistan and subsequently failing to complete to climb K2 range of Himalayas   – Greg devoted his time to help build schools specially for girls of the North West Frontier states of Baltistan and Waziristan. Sunsequently he also went over to Afghanisatn to do the same – all recently when large scale  terrorist (Taliban)  war is going on and Americans are really very unpopular there . Very interesting.

2) Agatha Christie book titled ” Passenger to Frankfurt + – a non H. Poirot book.
