General Comment:
As mentioned earlier on my April 19 2007 post,I have embarked on writing a few words on all the books that I may read in my retirement. I will reread few books which I read over last few years – this to allow me to capture some good essence from the readings. The third book I have completed reading recently (on 2007 April 28) is by E. X. Giroux . This is a paperback book and is titled “A Death For a Dreamer ” . It is a Robert Forsythe Mystery book which is a pleasant way to spend time when one is retired with plenty of time available but a bit handicapped with one hand (left hand wrist had a crack when I fell down on sliipery ice on 20078 March 19) in cast. This book provided lot of enjoyment in mystery solving story.
The back flap of the book shows that the author (E. X. Giroux) is a Canadian writer. whose other Robert Forsythe mysteries include A Death for a Dietitian , A Dearh for a Doctor and others.
The Book:
It is a paperback book about a home of Aged . The trustees of the Home were somewhat in disagreement amongst themselves about whether to allow pets (dogs) for the residents (aged persons) . Barristor Robert Forsythe was called in by the original owner to mediate .He sent his very capable secretary Miss Sanderson to the area to investigate and help in the resolution . As usual in this series of mystery books by the author, Miss Sanderson develops a context and understanding of the issue but then abruptly is confronted by murder. Here in this novel, a dog is poisoned and a very senior lady (in her nineties) is smothered to death. The story leads to ealier murder -some thirty years ago – which was eventually solved by the Barrister/Secretary team.
A good light reading to occupy one’s mind.
