Eternal Gratitude
In these troubled times we, the citizens, have a duty to remember what our values are and what this country is about.
Over the last few decades this country has moved to become a society, which is tolerant and all-inclusive. Our democracy is more civilized and open compared to many others.
The earlier division between Anglos and French, Protestants and Catholics, whites and non-whites, east and west, men and women is now disappearing from the Canadian milieu.
We have become a unique Canadian nation; proud of all our citizens irrespective of race, color, gender or religion. Our Maple Leaf has become a standard and symbol of all that is civilized and a beacon for respect of all human beings.
Our armed forces are a welcome force in many a troubled countries of the world. These, fine young men and women, are sacrificing their personal life to uphold our values and freedom which are synonymous with human values.
We in Renfrew County are fortunate that there is a Canadian Forces base as our neighbors. This base is a reminder to us for the many who lost their lives in past wars and peacekeeping activities for Canada and freedom. Their supreme sacrifice has strengthened the democracy and freedom all around the world.
Our remembrance of their sacrifices shall be eternally heartfelt and with utmost humble gratitude.
