Don’t kill the world
Here is a poem written by a Grade XII student in Chennai (formerly Madras), India. The source is The Hindu, a popular English Newspaper in India. Refer to the newspaper’s web site http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/qu/arcpoem.htm and enjoy poems and articles by students from all over India on multiple subjects.
I hope that our local and national newspapers would adopt a similar initiative supporting student creativity..
Don’t kill the world
Don’t let her down,
Do not destroy her
basic fabric.
Don’t kill the world
Our means of life
Open your ear to
nature’s cry.
She’s all we have
And surely it’s worth it
to save her.
Don’t let her die.
Fight for the trees,
Pollution robs the purity
of the air we breathe.
Don’t kill the world,
Help her instead,
She’ll reward you with life,
Don’t just talk
Practice what you preach
The one who wins will
be you!

We, Canadians, are in the forefront in saving the earth. We have signed the Kyoto Proposal and have taken substantial steps for reducing and/or recycling garbage wastes.
It is imperative that next Canadian leader (after Jean Chretian) is the one who has solid plans for implementing the Kyoto Proposal. In my opinion John Manley would provide a better leadership in this area.
