June 07, 2000 “View  From  the House Window”

Its the time when expectations are great for the garden at the back to show some vitalization of life.

Every morning , these days , the only thing which stands out, ever so majestically, is the “Peony” plant .

The Peony plant is a robust one and have sprouted many buds. There are other roses for which it will take sometime for growth as early June is the not the time for these roses.

Even though the expectations are high as to enjoying the Peony roses and their scent , this is to be postponed as the weather has taken a cooler bend.

This experience teaches us the value of patience and brings out ever so clearly our dependence on external events. In this case the impact of climatic pattern on the flowering of the Peony roses.

This is also evidenced in life. We need to develop a value for patience and recognize our limitations and contributions by our friends and family members whose behavior , albeit sometimes erratic, influence realization of our expectations in life.

Many a times we expect our children to go forth and take on the world to fulfill our desires but ground reality may indicate that the children want to do something else and be happy with whatever fancies them.

That’s when we need to have patience and understanding . This then is the key to success and happiness.

By the way, the Peony plant provides a very visible and physical reminder of friendship and mutual enjoyment with least cost and effort between friends. That’s the spirit which make our lives scented and bearable.
