Blessings of Sanyasi

Their is a village Virpur near Rajkot in Gujrat State about 200 years ago, Shri Jalaram born on November 4, 1799 the seventh day of Kartika, Vikram Era 1856 in the family of Lohana couple Pradhan Thakkar & Rajbai (were) living at Virpur. Jalaram met a sanyasi from Mount Girnar when he was only 5 years old. After meeting with sanyasi the boy Jalaram showed a remarkable change in his behavior. Now he was all the time muttering God’s name. Jalaram was more inclined towards Sadhus & Sanyasis.    Seeing that, Jalaram’s father feared that he would himself be an sanyasi, so he thought to bind him with worldly ties. He explained to Jalaram the blessedness of dutiful households. Jalaram was convinced with the argument of feeding other. At the age of sixteen Jalaram was married to Virbai, the daughter of Pragaji Thakkar at Atkot.

Virpur was in the way between Dwarka & Junagadh. So Sadhus Sanyasis use to halt there for rest. Jalaram was delighted when he saw them. He would invite them for meals or offer food grains & other things from the shop. Jalaram has no love for business activities. He went out for a pilgrimage when he was only seventeen. Journey was hard in those days. After about two years he returned from the pilgrimage.

Fatepur is a small village near Amreli in Saurashtra. God-Man name Bhoja Bhagat lived there. He was an illiterate farmer, but one who has realized God needs no schooling. Soon after returning form the pilgrimage Jalaram went to see Bhoja Bhagat. Bhagat accepted Jalaram as his disciple & gave him Ram Mantra to mutter.
